Humble Dreams Alliance
The Humble Dreams Alliance empowers teens and young adults transitioning out of care to succeed in higher education and entrepreneurial pursuit.
In 2020, Precious Dreams Foundation and The BKLYN Combine created the Humble Dreams Alliance to holistically address and combat the difficulties faced by youth in transition. This program provides educational support, assistance with entrepreneurial endeavors, and mental health intervention to teens and young adults in and transitioning out of foster care and experiencing homelessness.
- Over 23,000 youth age out of the foster care system each year.
- Over 50% of young adults will fail to find or maintain employment after aging out of foster care, and those who do typically earn significantly below the poverty line.
- 1 in 4 youth exiting foster care experience homelessness within 4 years of emancipation
- Despite having the same aspirations as peers of higher socioeconomic status, youth living in uncertainty are more likely to struggle academically due to financial instability, housing insecurity, physical and emotional neglect, and mental health issues.
